Bhupalapalli (Punnami News) July 4: In a program organized by the Women, Child, Elderly and Transgender Department under the ERS Scheme at the IDOC office on Saturday, a check of Rs 75,000 was handed over to a transgender selected under the ERS Scheme by the Collector. Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector advised them to take advantage of the government assistance and excel in self-employment. He said that the state government is giving special priority to the social and economic empowerment of transgenders with the aim of comprehensive development of all sections of the society. He said that the government’s intention is that transgenders should live a dignified life without being left behind in the society. He reminded that the government is implementing several welfare schemes to help them establish themselves in self-employment sectors and become financially stable. He advised the beneficiary to take advantage of this financial assistance provided by the government and develop business or employment opportunities. He wished that transgenders should achieve financial self-reliance and become role models for others in the society. The Collector asked all eligible transgenders in the district to increase their awareness about such welfare schemes provided by the government and apply on time to avail the benefits. Local Bodies Additional Collector Smt. Vijayalakshmi, District Welfare Officer Malleswari and others participated in this cheque distribution program and wished the beneficiary further growth in the future.
