Blood Group Identification Program on the Occasion of World Heart Day Vijayawada, September 29, 2026: On the occasion of World Heart Day, a blood group identification program was organized by the Department of Zoology at Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Women’s College, Vijayawada on Tuesday. The main objective of the program was to create awareness among the students about the importance of heart health and blood groups, and to explain the importance of knowing the blood group in emergency medical situations. In this program, second year B.Sc. Hons Zoology and third year B.Sc. Hons Aquaculture students conducted blood group identification tests. A, B, AB, O blood groups as well as the method of identifying Rh positive and Rh negative blood groups were demonstrated practically. The students participated enthusiastically and applied the concepts learned in the classroom experimentally. Awareness was also created on topics like blood donation, blood group priority in emergencies, and healthy lifestyle. On this occasion, Principal In-charge Dr. P.V. Durgavathi and Head of the Department of Zoology Dr. R. Ramani appreciated the program. Dr. A. Kalyani and Smt. I. Anitha Hemasree coordinated the program. The program was organized with the message “Know your blood type – protect your heart, every drop of blood is precious!”
