All preparations are underway for the most famous cultural and spiritual festival in Nellore district , the “Gudur Anjaneya Swamy Flag Festival” . The townspeople and festival committees are making elaborate arrangements to celebrate this year’s Flag Festival on the occasion of Mahalaya Amavasya on October 10th .
Thousands of devotees from neighboring districts also flock to witness this festival, which is very unique in Andhra Pradesh. The main highlight of this festival is the installation of huge Anjaneya Swamy flags on tall poles in the East Street, Kummari Street, and Gamallapalem streets of the town. These flags are hoisted with devotion and amidst the playing of drums.
