Sullurpet: Sullurpet brings to mind Kalangini, the most sacred goddess Sri Chengalamma on the banks of the river, the world-famous rocket center Sriharikota, and the ancient Rajagopalaswamy temple in Manarpolur. Sullurpet is a blend of Telugu and Tamil traditions. Sullurpet got its name from the Chengalamma temple. This is because when the Chengalamma temple is celebrated, a goat is tied to a big stick and spun three times in the air. This spinning is done to symbolize the finding of the water in which the water is spinning. This spinning is called the ‘Sullu Utsavam’. Thus, this town got its name Sullurpet. 2,000 people come to visit this temple every day. Tada: The border zone of our district is ‘Tada’. The area where there are a lot of Tada trees is called ‘Tada’. Tada means Dhanvamanedu tree. It is also called Dhanurvuksha. Its wood is used for houses and its leaves are used for fields. Pellakur: A village named after a hero who decorated the heaven of heroes in war, Talvaipadu. The Chandika Parameshwari temple and school of Bandlamamba are the specialties of this mandal.
