Dr. B.R. Ambedkar A major theft took place at a cinema hall in Ramachandrapuram, Konaseema district. The accused stole 2.5 kg of gold worth about Rs. 3 crore. Jitendra Singh Raj Purohit, a resident of Kalher in Thane district of Maharashtra, was travelling in a Kakinada-Raolapalem Palle Velugu bus to deliver the gold to gold traders in Narasapuram when the accused followed him. At the old bus stand in Ramachandrapuram, an accused got into an argument with the passengers and threw the bag containing the gold out of the window. Two other persons who were waiting outside took the bag and fled in a car. The police arrested four people with the help of cellphone, CCTV footage and technical evidence. They have been identified as the Solapur gang. The police have reportedly identified 24 cases against this gang, and have stolen approximately 40.836 kg of gold.
